EVO ICL™ Lens

A reversible, high-definition vision correction option for myopia and astigmatism

What is EVO ICL?

The EVO Implantable Collamer® Lens (ICL) is an additive vision correction option, meaning that it works with the natural eye to correct vision. The EVO ICL is placed between the iris (the colored part of the eye) and the natural lens through a small opening. It is made of a soft, biocompatible material called collamer and can correct vision for those with myopia (nearsightedness) with or without astigmatism.

Unlike LASIK, which reshapes the cornea, EVO ICL is additive - it works with your natural eye anatomy to provide excellent visual outcomes.

EVO ICL Procedure - What to Expect

The procedure is performed in an outpatient setting. Your eye will be anesthetized with eye drops, and the surgeon will create a small opening to implant the lens. The entire procedure typically takes about 15-30 minutes per eye, and most patients experience immediate improvement in their vision.

The lens unfolds naturally once placed and positions itself between your iris and natural lens. No stitches are required, and the incision heals quickly on its own.

What is Recovery Like after EVO ICL?

Most patients notice improved vision within hours of the procedure. You may experience some mild discomfort, light sensitivity, or watery eyes for the first few days. Most patients can return to normal activities within a day or two, though you should avoid strenuous activities and swimming for about a week.

Follow-up appointments will be scheduled to monitor your healing and ensure optimal results.

Benefits of EVO ICL

  • Reversible: The lens can be removed or replaced if your vision changes or if needed for any reason
  • No Corneal Tissue Removal: Unlike LASIK, no corneal tissue is permanently removed
  • UV Protection: The collamer material provides UV protection for your eyes
  • High-Definition Vision: Many patients report sharper, clearer vision compared to contacts or glasses
  • Suitable for Thin Corneas: A great option for those who may not qualify for LASIK
  • Dry Eye Friendly: Less likely to cause or worsen dry eye symptoms compared to LASIK
  • Quick Recovery: Most patients experience rapid visual recovery

Important Safety Information

The EVO ICL is intended for the correction of moderate to high myopia (-3.0 to -20.0 diopters) and for the reduction of myopia in patients with up to -23.0 diopters with less than or equal to 4.0 diopters of astigmatism at the spectacle plane.

The EVO ICL is only intended for use in adults (21-45 years of age) who have had a stable refractive history (within 0.5 D) for one year prior to implantation, with an anterior chamber depth of 3.0 mm or greater measured from the corneal endothelium, and who do not have pre-existing eye conditions.

As with any surgical procedure, there are risks associated with the EVO ICL. Possible side effects include vision disturbances such as halos, glare, and double vision. These are usually temporary but may be permanent in rare cases.
